| | The Harvard School of Public Health’s Environmental Health Education Program promotes science and health literacy in BPS K-12 classrooms. Through hands-on activities and experiments that emphasize critical thinking and active investigation, scientists and health professionals help young people gain the skills they need to study important health and environmental risks in their own communities and to make good decisions for their health. We conduct one-time or yearlong programs, as well as, after school science clubs and teacher workshops. |

| | I think what you have is fine with some additional statement to the effect that Social Justice Academy is a small learning community of about 350 students located at the Hyde Park Educational Complex in Hyde Park.
Also perhaps add something about our hope is to graduate students who are critical thinkers and activists for themselves, their families and communities and the larger world. |

| | In its decision-making, educational product and services, and in all it does, the Museum of Science, Boston strives to be a leader in using science to understand and consider the consequences of human actions on the Earth’s ability to sustain and nurture life, and to use that understanding to guide our endeavors. Sustainability— living in such a way that we do not impair the well-being of future generations of life on Earth—is core to the Museum’s institutional mission—to stimulate interest in and further understanding of science and technology and their importance for individuals and for society.
In addition to exhibits and programs on energy technologies and climate science news, giant-screen films, and prototypes in Citizen Science as well as pairing Boston-area green buildings with cell phone tours, the Museum has engaged in a range of sustainability-related operations, including energy conservation in its heating, cooling, and lighting systems, water conservation via low/no-flow fixtures, and research on alternative energy technologies including wind power, hydro power, solar power, and green roofs.

| | The statement you have is our mission statement and is accurate. I would like to add short descriptions of our programs.
MITS provides Boston teachers a two-week July Institute modeling inquiry-based, hands-on science activities for K-8 teachers which promotes using the environment to excite and teach science concepts to their students. In 2008 eduators from the Franklin Park Zoo, New England Aquarium, Children's Museum and the Harvard Natural History Museum taught the Institute in Boston. All activities are linked to the Mass. Frameworks. MITS also publishes a quarterly, "Science Is Elementary" for K-6 teachers with many environmental activities. All are listed on our web page www.mits.org. |
