 | | | MISSION At the heart of EYA Visionary people, grassroots action, down to earth results For over 15 years, EYA has been connecting people with the world: people to natural spaces, communities to resources, youth to capacity, business to sustainability, government to grassroots action and inspiring ideas with a place to actualize them. Environmental Youth Alliance (EYA) is a local youth driven non-profit organization dedicated to the health of our urban environment, our planet & the wellbeing of its people. By providing young people with meaningful employment, in projects that benefit our communities, we support our environment socially as well as ecologically. We have a people-centered philosophy for effecting change Grounded firmly in the belief that everyday people must be the agents of creating social and environmental health for a sustainable future, we attract forward-thinking people who care about others, are full of fresh ideas, and bring their passion and persistence to making our city and world the place we all know it can be. We understand that to address the magnitude of interconnecting environmental problems, we cannot look for our champions to come from a “special” group of citizens. We must work with everyday citizens, no matter what barriers they face, and work to empower them with the tools needed to create a healthy and sustainable world. And are Unabashedly Inspired by Young People Our confidence in young people to create effective action comes from 15 years of experience training thousands of youth at EYA. We have a long history of business, government, education and community organizations seeking support from our youth-led programs so as to achieve tangible and positive results in areas such as climate change, food security , urban greening , deforestation, resource consumption, and social justice. The goodwill we engender from our community partners emerges from experiencing the benefits of youth engagement: invigoration resourcefulness, improved problem-solving skills, deepened critical consciousness, and a greater sense of purpose and concern for social and ecological justice in their communities.

Our goal: ensure that this green economy is strong enough to lift people out of poverty. Green-Collar Jobs Campaign creates opportunities in the green economy for poor people and people of color through policy advocacy, public outreach, and an employment pipeline - the Green Jobs Corps. |

The archive features work by past and present students as well as nationally recognized leaders and artists working to increase the power of the environmental movement through diversity. Our programs combine media literacy, research skills, and environmental education to produce youth created projects that can be used to inform others.
